ROBOT BARCO
PROJECTION
Brief
To create a visually stunning projection mapping experience, using the transformative technique of Trompe L’oeil on the exterior of the Academic Center.
The interactive experience targets four key audiences:
1) BARCO and potential clients,
2) Ringling administration,
3) community art leaders in Sarasota, and
4) outside guests, donors, and Ringling students.

CONCEPT_03
I had the opportunity to pitch multiple concepts to my clients .
Out of the three proposed concepts, I received feedback to proceed with “Concept 2,” which focuses on the robot.
Due to the impact of two unforeseen hurricanes, we lost a significant amount of time to work on this project. As a result, to meet the new deadline, the concept had to be simplified.
SIMPLIFYING
Animation Test
I had to first convert my sketches from 2d to 3d in Cinema 4d
This way I would be able to adjust the perspective of my Robot to see if it was effective
RED ROBOT
To further develop my project, I incorporated color to differentiate the various components, along with light and shadow to enhance depth and dimension.
BOXING ROBOT
After thinking it over, I decided that the best theme for the robot would be a boxer since it punches its way out of the box.
With the animation almost finished, the last thing left to do was add the branding to the robot and the box.
Trompe l’oeil
Trompe l’oeil is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the illusion of three-dimensional objects on a flat surface, tricking the viewer’s eye.
Throughout the project, the way I executed the trompe l’oeil effect of the robot’s punch went through many changes to reach its current form.
FINAL TOUCH
To make the plastic that the robot pokes look realistic, I set up a box with plastic inside to observe how it reacts when poked. Using those observations, I illustrated and hand-animated the altered plastic frame by frame.

FINAL
After all the adjustments and refinements, this is how the final projection turned out on the side of the building. It captures the full effect of the concept and brings the entire vision to life
